Resources

The various resources available on this site are copyright of Page Bloomer Associates but we make them free for your personal use.

These are not available for commercial use without our written agreement. Contact us if you want to use them for commercial purposes. We do ask for acknowledgement as appropriate!

These resources have been collated and developed as we’ve seen a need. Some have been funded as part of projects we have undertaken, others have been specifically developed on request by various agencies. Sometimes, we have just got on and done them. Any comments you may have are welcomed, as are ideas for additional resources you think would be useful.

Tools

The ‘Tools‘ section contains self-help guidelines and worksheets on a range of topics. They are intended to be picked up and used by farmers or advisers to assess how well things are performing. Look here for tools to help you with:

Tips

The “Tips” section contains fact sheets and articles covering a wide range of issues. They are grouped by topic, and we are slowly adding more to the mix.

“Panui  Tips” are fact sheets developed as part of our work on the East Coast.  See Science for Communities in the Projects section. Panui Tips provide a quick reference source for local growers developing organic horticulture farmlets. Look here for information about:

  • Annual crops (kumara, taewa potatoes)
  • Perennial crops (setting up an orchard, tamarillos, passionfruit, feijoas)
  • General information (Weed identification and weed management, soils and soil health)

The “Weather and Climate Tips were originally prepared by David Manktelow and Alan Porteous for a project called, “Research to Practice“. We amended and updated these to suit our audience, farmers involved in Weather forecasting for increased profits, a project we did in Canterbury for the Foundation for Arable Research.
